It didn’t take long for the 2nd Gen AppleTV to jailbreak. The video below shows root access to the device. It opens up the possibility to install jailbroken apps on the AppleTV. That is if Apple doesn’t open up the device to the App Store. Since the AppleTV is running a version of iOS they are using some of the same jailbreak tools as the iPhone. You can read more about it at the iphone-dev blog.

This is one of those projects that I really like. You have a old, slightly damaged, MacBook that you turn into a tablet. The parts don’t cost that much but it’s the time and craftsmanship that make the final product great. You can follow the entire build process at Enigma-Penguin. I have also embedded a video below for you to check out.

Netflix updated it’s iPhone and iPod Touch app to allow for video out. The iPad has had this for some time now so it’s nice to see it trickle down to the smaller devices. It only works with the iPhone 4 and the 4th gen iPod Touch.
You can find it on the itunes store.

PlayOn was accepted into the App Store. PlayOn allows you to stream Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon VOD and a lot of other services to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The biggest drawback is that they server software only runs on Windows. For me I run it on my Windows Home Server but I hope they are working on Mac server software. The app is a free download.

Apple released version 2 of the Remote app. So far it looks great. I will be testing it out and see how it preforms.
