Apple released iTunes 10.1 which allows you to stream videos with AirPlay. I haven’t had a chance to play around with it yet. Also in the update is the ability to sync with the iOS 4.2 software. I’m sure that update won’t be too far behind. Fire up software update for the latest software.

A week after Microsoft released the Kinect for the Xbox 360 it has been hacked to work with Linux and Mac OS X. The video below is a demo of Kinect running on Mac OS X. There is a open source driver available. Not a lot you can do with it now but the hacker community could surprise us with some cool apps.

Looks like this week we will be getting some updates to our Apple devices. iTunes 10.1 and Mac OS X 10.6.5 will be available tomorrow. That is in preparation for the iOS 4.2 update coming on Friday. This is all rumor right now but I hope it’s true. The one thing left off is the AppleTV update. AirPlay can only send audio to the AppleTV. AppleTV needs an update to support AirPlay video.

Apple released iPhoto update to 9.1. It adds the ability to create and purchase calendars. I have used that feature a few times to make our yearly calendar. There are also some additional letterpress holiday themes. It’s a big update at 186.5 MB. I’m just glad they added the calendar feature back.

Skyfire Popularity Causes Its Removal

The Skyfire browser app, that allows you to watch Flash video on the iPhone, has been removed from the iTunes store. It’s not Apple that pulled it but the developer because their servers couldn’t keep up with the demand. They have it listed as sold out for now. Once they rework their backend servers the app will be available again.

Skyfire transcodes flash content and displays it as HTML5 for viewing. It isn’t going to allow you to play flash games but if websites have flash video you will be able to watch. Seems flash is more popular than Jobs would like to believe.
